2. Voice For some people, voice is the most effective way to allow anger energy to move. Scream into a pillow to muffle the sound. Sing at the top of your lungs – in your car on the highway, or in the shower.
Sing out loud to feisty music. You may at first be surprised by the grunts and growls that will erupt from deep in your vocal cords – actually, from deep in your belly. They may sound like primal sounds – and they are. Anger is a primal emotion – as all emotions are. It is not ‘human’. It is not ‘pretty’. It is not ‘handsome’. It is powerful. Just like a mother bear defending the safety of her cubs, you may discover territorial growls, screams and barks that have been stored deep inside. They cannot hurt you. They are just sounds. Let them out. Like you’re vomiting. Let this pent up energy out.
