Since 1989 I’ve been consciously aware that I am in an experiment of awakening consciousness. Consciously aware that this is the most exciting time to be alive on planet Earth. Consciously aware that this may be the first time in human history that humanity is able to observe its own awakening – its own unfurling into a new species – it own metamorphosis – its own cosmic magnificence.
My story began when I was ten (see Birds’ Eye View – A Travel Guide to the Universe). My awakening began in earnest in 1988.
The essence of this consciousness ‘experiment’ is … How do we exit the ‘Wheel of Time’?
What is the ‘Wheel of Time’?
The ‘Wheel of Time’ is an expression from Buddhism which describes the perpetuation of incarnations, of patterns, of habits, of human world views, of unspoken rules (see Barry Long), of domestication (see Don Miguel Ruiz) – all of which denote a basic regurgitation of human experience on Earth over and over in a realm predominated by suffering.
Exiting the ‘Wheel of Time’ – the patterns of existence which we associate with Time / human history / planetary history as we know it so far – is what global awakening is all about.
If you’re curious to actually experience this, take a piece of paper and a pen or a crayon. Begin to draw a circle. Keep your pen or crayon on the page, and continuously draw the circle, around and around and around again, incessantly …
This is a demonstration of the ‘Wheel of Time’.
Now consider participating in this experiment (the outcome of which is how we experience our actual freedom, as if birds flying out of a now open cage!) Keep circling your crayon around and around … until you sense the precise, sublime, de-light-ful moment when you crayon wants to shoot off like a comet in a new trajectory … !
Notice the design that your crayon is now making. It may have left the page … Or it may be circling now, in a wider circle … Or …
Let it be as it is 🙂 Simply notice what you notice …
This is the beginning of you consciously exploring how we / you / ‘I’ exit the ‘Wheel of Time’. It is discovering a key, a sacred doorway, an energy portal, which allows us to exit a ‘gravitational pull’ (see “Psychic Undertow” in Awakening Instinct and “Swimming Upstream” in H.O.P.E. = Healing Ourselves and Planet Earth).
As we have the courage – and the curiosity – to explore this we will find the way out. Out of duality, which is the incubator of suffering. Out of perceived separation, which has been the greatest of illusions. Out of ‘free will’, which is the greatest misnomer in the human language (see forthcoming post on “Free Will”).
What is my own most recent discovery in this ‘consciousness experiment’? That I can forgive and hold boundaries at the same time. These are not exclusive, disparate extremes in a dualistic continuum. They are actually allies. (See “Invictus – Forgiveness to Unity” blog post.)
The inner strength / inner momentum required in me right now is so strong … in order
to not repeat the ‘Wheel of Time’ pattern – to not acquiesce to the collective, historic, psychic undertow and repeat an incessant pattern in history. To break patterns – to exit the monotony of the ‘Wheel of Time’ – requires quiet determination, love, understanding, and paramount persistence.
This, in my view, is the ultimate act of respect of the Divine.
Questions to Ponder: In what ways are you currently caught in repeating non-constructive patterns? Do you remember existence beyond the ‘Wheel of Time’?
Want to explore this further? Read and listen to these great inspirational ‘scouts’!
Imagine … life outside the ‘Wheel of Time’ …
